What is Search & AI Visibility?

It is the practice of getting a company found, mentioned and cited both in Google and in answer engines: ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude. It combines SEO (search engines), AEO (Answer Engine Optimization: direct answers) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization: being a source for generated answers). Unlike classic SEO, AI visibility is binary: you are either in the answer or you do not exist for that user. That is why I work with dated, reproducible evidence rather than ranking promises.

How do SEO, AEO and GEO differ?

SEO optimises for appearing in search results. AEO structures content so an engine selects it as the direct answer (answer first, question-shaped headings, tables, structured data). GEO works so that generative models recognise you as an entity and cite you as a source: consistent, dated facts, stable pages, third-party mentions and open access for AI crawlers. All three layers are measured with the same baseline: questions × engines × runs.

How do you measure whether a company appears in ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Mode?

With a reproducible baseline: a set of commercial questions agreed with the client, run in each engine several times under documented conditions (account, language, country, date). I record whether the brand is mentioned, whether its website is cited, which URL, which external sources and which competitors appear. A single run is a snapshot, not a baseline. I only compare repeated observations before talking about a trend.

Why can my site rank in Google and still be absent from AI answers?

Because AI knows your site through two different routes: trained memory (crawls such as Common Crawl, months earlier) and live retrieval (the engine reads your page while answering). A CDN block, a restrictive robots.txt, content that only exists after JavaScript runs, or simply never having been crawled keep you out of the first route even when Google indexes you well. My access and inclusion audit checks robots.txt, responses per AI user agent, presence in the Common Crawl index, rendering and structured data.

What does an initial review include?

A public-evidence review before the first meeting: website and profiles, basic access and mobile experience, brand searches, an AI-visibility sample with buyer questions and a comparison with the sources the engines do cite. The output is three supported observations, explicit hypotheses and the questions needed to agree the next step. It is a preliminary sample, not a complete audit or a promise of search inclusion.

What happens after the project is approved?

Three phases: a reliable picture (baseline, Search Console, GA4, technical crawl and an inventory of evidence), strategy (canonical fact and entity layer, citable case studies, guides that answer buyer questions, improvements to existing pages and structured data) and supervised implementation with QA and a baseline repeat. Every action has an owner, a date and a reproducible verification criterion.

What is an Agent-as-a-Service?

An AI agent designed, deployed and operated as a service for a company: it answers and acts inside a pipeline with security and compliance (personal-data filtering, deterministic routing for critical queries, traceability). At AllHub I design these agents; RnD Ventures AI OS shows a complete conversational system in production. It fits AI visibility: the same fact layer that feeds answer engines feeds your own agent.

Write to me through the contact form with your website and the three questions you would like AI to answer by naming you. I prepare the initial review and in a 30–40 minute meeting we agree markets, audiences and priority questions before measuring anything.
