Search & AI Visibility: get found, named and cited by AI

Search & AI Visibility is the practice of getting a company found, mentioned and cited both in Google and in answer engines (ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude). It combines SEO, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), and it is measured with a reproducible baseline: buyer questions × engines × runs under documented conditions. No causal claims about AI rankings.

The three layers

SEO
Appearing in search results: indexability, canonicals, metadata, internal links, Search Console coverage and mobile performance.
AEO · Answer Engine Optimization
Getting an engine to select your page as the direct answer: answer first, question-shaped headings, tables, structured data with author and date.
GEO · Generative Engine Optimization
Getting generative models to recognise you as an entity and cite you as a source: consistent, dated facts, stable pages, third-party mentions and open access for AI crawlers.

How I work

Three phases; every action has an owner, a date and a reproducible verification criterion.

  1. Reliable picture

Agree markets, audiences and the commercial questions worth winning. Build the baseline in ChatGPT Search, Perplexity and Google AI Mode; combine it with Search Console, GA4, a technical crawl and an AI-crawler access and inclusion audit (robots.txt, CDN, presence in Common Crawl, rendering, structured data).

Prioritised diagnosis, initial baseline and action backlog.

  2. Strategy

Canonical fact and entity layer (claims register, complete organisation schema, consistent identifiers), citable case studies with dated data, guides that answer buyer questions, improvements to existing pages, internal links and structured data.

Operational roadmap and initial actions ready for execution.

  3. Supervision

Actionable instructions for the team or agency, technical and editorial QA, verification of every change and a baseline repeat on fixed dates, comparing repeated observations before calling anything a trend.

Verified changes and evolution measured with the same methodology.

The initial review

Before the first meeting I prepare a review from public evidence. About two hours of work; nothing on your site changes.

  • Frame the business question
  • Website and public profiles
  • Basic access and mobile experience
  • Brand searches and external references
  • AI-visibility sample with buyer questions
  • Comparison with the sources the engines do cite

A preliminary sample, not a complete audit or a promise of search inclusion.

Principles

  • One run is a snapshot, not a baseline. I only compare repeated observations.
  • AI visibility is binary: you are either in the answer or you do not exist for that user.
  • AI knows your site through two routes, trained memory and live retrieval; each needs its own access.
  • Every published fact needs a definition, a period, a source and an owner before it is repeated on more pages.
  • Projected metrics kept separate from realised historical results.

Shall we start?

Write to me with your website and the three questions you would like AI to answer by naming you. I prepare the initial review and in 30–40 minutes we agree the next step.
